    Adele

Adele is my celebrity crush, but she's also a British singer who just blew out 34 candles and has racked up more than 120 million in sales worldwide.

Her talent is beyond question, both as a vocalist and as a performer. On top of that, she's a multi-instrumentalist and has been the most popular female singer of the last five years.

It's no exaggeration to say that Adele is the most iconic female singer working today, and she'll remain so for the next twenty years. What's more, her songs will be remembered for centuries and sung by generations to come until the end of time.

    Adele's Best Songs

Easy On Me isn't the only Adele song to make such an impact—there are plenty of others that are just as outstanding.

    A few worth a listen:

    • Hello, written by Adele, has been one of her most-streamed songs since 2015.
    • Rolling in the Deep is another of her compositions and, since 2011, the song with the most plays on YouTube.
    • Someone Like You was written by Adele and Dan Wilson.
    • Skyfall is the theme from the James Bond film Skyfall and was written by Adele and Paul Epworth.

There are still plenty of other Adele songs, but this time around we're focusing on the chords to Adele's Easy On Me.

The Casper Esmann and Toey Fingerstyle Versions

To work on the chords for Easy On Me, we have two versions that are both really interesting.

One is the Casper Esmann version and the other is the Toey Fingerstyle version, both of which fall under the guitar fingerstyle category.

As for both covers and arrangements, we can say that they're both excellent and we love them. That said, Casper Esmann's is more complex and demands some extra effort from any guitarist who's just starting to practice it.

    Easy On Me Chords (Adele)

In general, there are four things that matter when it comes to playing the chords to Adele's Easy On Me

Those key factors are the tuning, the use of a capo, the tempo, and the harmony.

    Tuning

In the Casper Esmann version, the chords to Adele's Easy On Me are played with an alternate tuning on the guitar.

So Casper Esmann tunes the guitar in the following order, from low to high:

    • Low E string down to D
    • A
    • D
    • G to F#
    • B to A
    • High E string down to D

As for the Toey Fingerstyle version, this guitarist doesn't change the guitar's tuning. Instead, he plays the chords to Adele's Easy On Me in standard guitar tuning.

    Capo

Both Toey Fingerstyle and Casper Esmann place the capo on the 3rd fret, and that's where each of their own versions of the Easy On Me chords begins.

We're going to give you the chords for both versions along with their respective sheet music, though only the first page.

That's why we recommend you look up the videos from these guitarists and give them a listen.

    Tempo

The chords to Adele's Easy On Me are played at a tempo of a quarter note at 68 BPM. So you'll want to set your metronome to this note value and this speed.

That way, you'll play the piece based on the set tempo

    Harmony

Both versions of the chords to Adele's Easy On Me are played in the key of D major. So what changes between Casper Esmann's and Toey Fingerstyle's interpretations is the voicing of the chords.

    • Toey Fingerstyle: Dsus4, Bm7, D/F#, G, A, Em9, Gmaj7, Bm7, Csus4.
    • Casper Esmann: D, Bm7, Dmaj7/F#, Gadd9, Aadd11, Dsus2, A, D/F#, Gsus2/E, Em7.

In both versions you'll notice that there are differences in the chord types, but even more so in the voicings of the Easy On Me chords. That's because each guitarist adds their own signature touch.
