Free cumbia, porro and gaita sheet music

742 arrangements of Colombian coastal music, written for the ensembles that actually play it: brass-led bands, orchestras and conjuntos. If you have only ever seen cumbia written as a chord chart, these are the opposite — full scores with the wind lines notated.

Three related styles in one category

    • Cumbia — the two-beat pattern that spread from Colombia across the whole continent, with the clarinet or trumpet carrying the melody.
    • Porro — the faster banda pelayera style from Córdoba and Sucre, built around bombardino and trumpet answers.
    • Gaita — music descended from the indigenous gaita flutes, usually adapted here for winds.

    Typical instrumentation

Charts commonly include trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, bass and percussion, with the parts written separately so each player reads their own. Concert bands and school wind ensembles outside Latin America often use this repertoire for programmes that need something rhythmic and unfamiliar to an audience.

    Getting the files

All arrangements are free PDFs. A free account includes three downloads a day; Premium removes the limit. Related collections: salsa, merengue and concert band.
